Mid-length coat with a double-breasted crossover closure, lapels and a hood. The pockets are welt pockets at the hip. At the back, a center pleat and a horizontal strap with two buttons mark the waist, and the hem drops with a slight flare. The fit is fitted at the top and loose toward the hem.
Given the drape and body shown in the photo, a wool coating or a warm textured blend works best. To hold the shape, the front is reinforced with fusible interfacing and the back strap gets an extra layer of interfacing before the buttons are sewn on.
