Very wide-leg pants with a gathered waist and large cargo flap pockets on the sides of the thigh. One of them has a drawcord with a cord stop. Gathers collect below the knee and the hem closes with an adjustable drawcord casing, letting the volume fall in a balloon shape.
It works best in a cotton or nylon woven with body, which holds the volume without clinging to the leg. Reinforce the corners of the cargo pockets with bar tacks and sew a facing at the buttonhole of the casing so the cord runs without catching.
