Long, straight-leg pants with an elastic waist and a row of gathers running along the side of each leg from the hip to the hem. The folds visually shorten the leg and bunch fabric over the shoes. The fabric looks lightweight with a slightly shiny finish, similar to a technical fabric.
A lightweight woven fabric, such as nylon, technical poplin or taffeta, gathers without turning stiff. Preparing the casing or the gathering elastic on each side seam before closing the leg, and allowing extra length to absorb the gathered fabric, keeps the pants from ending up short.
