Short dress with a V-neckline and a row of buttons running down the center of the front to the start of the skirt. Each shoulder has a small ruffle in place of a sleeve. The body is straight and loose, with a seam at hip level joining a skirt of two overlapping ruffles.
It works best in lightweight cotton or linen, with enough body to hold the ruffles. Reinforce the button placket with interfacing and prepare the buttonholes before attaching the ruffles. Gather each ruffle separately, in the same proportion, so the skirt hangs evenly.
