The dress has a V-neckline, short cape-style sleeves and a loose bodice that drops to a skirt made of stepped tiers, with gathers at each join. The length reaches mid-calf and there are no visible closures.
Because of the loose drape, it works best in rustic cotton, viscose or batiste, lightweight fabrics that add volume in the tiers without adding weight. Cut each tier of the skirt wider than the one above it so the stepped effect comes out even.
