Module 4: Cutting and Sewing

This is where the sewing pattern becomes a garment. It is the stage that decides most of your production cost, because cutting time and sewing time are what you pay for on every unit.

  1. Preparing fabric before cutting — Avoid the three fabric problems that only show up once the garment is already sewn.
  2. Spreading and cutting: cutting many garments at once — Go from cutting one garment at a time to cutting a whole run in a single pass.
  3. The sewing order of a garment — Assemble a garment in the order that lets you sew fast and without fighting the machine.
  4. The sample and adjustments before production — Catch in one garment what you would otherwise discover in a hundred.
