Buying Sewing Patterns from Abroad
How to buy digital sewing patterns from any country: accepted payment methods, why there is no customs or shipping, and how long delivery takes.
A file is not an import
The key difference between buying a digital pattern and buying any other supply from abroad is that nothing physical moves. There is no package, no courier, no shipping documents, and no customs officer checking a box. What you buy is a file, and what you receive is a download.
That immediately removes three costs that are often more expensive than the product itself: international freight, insurance, and import duties. And it removes the worst one of all, which is not a cost but a risk: the package getting lost or held up for weeks.
How to pay from another country
Moldey charges in US dollars and accepts four ways to pay, so nobody is left out for not having the typical payment method of their country:
- Mercado Pago, with a card or account balance.
- PayPal, which is the simplest option when your bank account is outside Latin America.
- Bank transfer.
- Cryptocurrency on the BEP20 network, useful where access to dollars is restricted.
Why the price is the same everywhere
Many catalogs change the price depending on the country you visit from. Moldey does not: the same pattern costs $10 in PDF A4 anywhere in the world. There is no regional price list and no surcharge by destination, because there is no cost that depends on the destination.
It does not change by size either. The file includes the full size range — XS to 4XL for adults, 2 to 18 for kids — and you pay once.
How long it takes and where the file appears
Patterns marked for instant delivery are available as soon as the payment is confirmed. The rest are unlocked within 24 hours. In both cases, the files appear in the downloads section of your account and can be downloaded again as many times as you need, even months later.
If any problem comes up — a missing piece, a file that will not open — it is resolved over WhatsApp or Telegram at +54 9 11 3331 3372.
What to check before your first international purchase
With a new supplier at a distance, some distrust is healthy. The way to deal with it without risking money is to download a free sewing pattern first, print it, and measure it. If the grading is right and the pieces match up, the rest of the catalog is made to the same standard.
