The top has thin straps, a wide ruffle that covers the bust like a double lapel, and a row of small buttons down the front to the waist. The length is short, cropped.
Because of the loose drape of the ruffle, pique or cotton jersey knit with a little spandex works best, holding the ruffle without it flattening against the body. Sew the buttons on after assembling the ruffle so the buttonholes do not distort.
